How to Get to Lapland

A Long Way North. That’s the Point.

Where Is Grayling Guide Located?

Getting to the wilderness of Northern Lapland is easier than you might think. Grayling Guide is based in Enontekiö, Northern Finland, close to some of the finest fishing waters in Finland, Sweden and Norway.

Our trips take place across Northern Lapland and the fjords of Northern Norway, and the best arrival point depends on your trip. The closest airport to our base is Kittilä and the closest train station Kolari.

Flying to Finnish Lapland

Flying is usually the easiest option for international visitors.

  • Kittilä, Finland – our main recommended airport, with connections via Helsinki and seasonal international flights.
  • Rovaniemi, Finland – good if you’re combining fishing with other travel and plan to rent a car.
  • Alta, Norway – convenient for Sea Trout Eldorado and trips in Northern Norway.
  • Tromsø, Norway – an alternative for some destinations, especially in March and April.

Arriving by Train or Car

Take the overnight train from Helsinki to Kolari and continue north by road – or we pick you up at Kolari station.

Driving is a good option too, especially if you’re already exploring Finland, Sweden or Norway. Rental cars are fairly cheap in summer and driving in Lapland is relaxing. Just watch out for reindeer on the road – they are not scared of cars at all.

Transfers and Travel Arrangements

For all multi-day trips, transport from the airport or railway station can be arranged. Transfers are included in our complete packages; for other trips we confirm the pickup and any extra cost when planning.

Not sure which airport to choose? Contact me before booking your flights and I’ll recommend the most convenient option for your trip and dates. You get yourself to the North – I’ll get you to the fishing.
