Wild Brown Trout in Lapland’s Rivers

Northern Finland, Sweden and Norway offer trout fishing that is very different from the crowded rivers of central Europe. The landscape is vast, the rivers are wild, and some days you may feel like you have the whole wilderness to yourself.

Fly Fishing for Brown Trout

We target wild brown trout in rivers and fell lakes, and the approach changes with the conditions. Small dry flies can be deadly when trout are feeding on the surface; at other times nymphs or streamers work better.

We choose the method by the river or lake – not the same technique every day.

Remote Areas, No Crowds

A trout trip in Lapland is also about the place: long walks through the wilderness, clear northern rivers, changing weather and reindeer country – and the feeling that you are genuinely away from everyday life.

If you want good fishing combined with a real wilderness experience, this is it.

Who Is This For?

You don’t need to be an expert. Beginners are welcome, as long as they are ready for the physical side of the trip. Experienced anglers will enjoy reading unfamiliar water and adapting to Arctic conditions.

Before your trip we’ll talk about your experience, preferred techniques and target species, your physical ability, the accommodation you’d like and how remote you want the experience to be.

When to Fish for Brown Trout

The main season runs through the summer; the best period depends on the water and the year.

  • June: changing water levels – small rivers can be really productive on warm, sunny days.
  • July: long days, strong insect activity and excellent dry fly fishing, also on lakes.
  • August–September: late August can be excellent. In September our rivers are closed for trout fishing, but fly fishing on the fell lakes can still be really good.
